Dampare finally sworn in as IGP by Nana Akufo Addo

Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has sworn in Dr. George Akuffo Dampare as the substantive Inspector General of Police (IGP).

He replaced George Oppong Boanuh on August 1, 2021, and acted in his stead but has now been confirmed as the substantive boss.

At the swearing-in ceremony today October 8, 2021, President Akufo-Addo has assured the IGP of his government’s support.

“He has demonstrated he will be an effective leader of the Police. We have a worthy successor to Mr. Oppong-Buanoh (the immediate past IGP) and the others who have gone before him. Government will do its best to assist you,” President Akufo-Addo said.

With his confirmation at the seat of government today, IGP George Akuffo Dampare has become Ghana’s 23rd IGP.
