Don’t blame any player, I take full responsibility for Blackstars failure – Dede Ayew
The captain of Blackstars, Andre Dede Ayew says he takes full responsibility of the team’s failure to return home with the AFCON trophy.
Hopes were high when the Blackstars jetted off to Egypt for the African Cup of Nations with the President of the nation giving them assurance of his unparalleled support.
Unfortunately the team crashed out of the competition last night with a penalty shootouts defeat at the hands of Tunisia.
The blame game has already started in Ghana but the captain of the team, Andre Ayew says no player should be blame for the team’s exit.
Speaking to Starr Fm after the game, Dede Ayew said he takes full responsibility of the team’s failure and that they will improve on their performances in their next outing.
“I am very sad and disappointed that we could not get to the next stage but we need to take heart and be stronger. The entire team gave everything but it did not go away.
“As a Ghanaian and as a leader no player is to be held responsible for this; I take all the responsibilities and we are going to work hard and come back stronger.
“If we have been kicked out at this stage it means we had a bad tournament and since we couldn’t achieve the mission we came here for, I will say we failed,” he added
