A 27-year-old nomadic herdsman, identified as Jibril, has been severely assaulted and left with head wounds following renewed clashes at Bagurugu in Karaga in the Northern region on Sunday evening.

Information gathered by Joy News suggested that the attack occurred while some Fulani organisations were in the village to donate relief items to some 200 displaced Fulanis whose homes were burnt two weeks ago.

Jibril was said to be in a barbering shop when his attacker, identified as Mahamabila, attacked and hit his head multiple times with the spanner and allegedly made some racist comments against him.

Naa Alhaji Yakubu Abdallah, Chief of Tamalgu has promised to summon an emergency meeting with the youth.

The matter has been reported to the overlord of Dagbon, Yaa Naa Abukari II.

A visit to the home of Mahamabila by the Karaga District Police Commander, ASP Bismark John revealed that the suspect had fled his home.

Addressing members of the Fulani association, the District Police Commander urged them to remain calm as the police investigate the case to bring the perpetrators to book.
