(+VIDEO) Takoradi Technical Institute students generate power for traffic lights and street lights using specially made speed ramps

Students from the Takoradi Technical Institute (TTI), a second-cycle institution in Ghana, is making the school proud and also proud technical students after coming with an innovation that will curb the energy consumption by traffic lights in the country.

The brilliant students have innovated a device that generates electricity that is stored within a batterywhenever a car moves over the specially-made speed ramp.

This power is then transmitted to the traffic lights or street lights that are connected to it.

Their breathtaking innovation is taking social media by storm and Ghanaians have hailed them for coming up with such an idea to help manage some resources of the economy.

The students explained that the purpose of this project is to take the streetlights and traffic lights off the national grid and prevent them from going off whenever there is a power outage.
